A Prayer for When You Are Weary
We are well into fall now and honestly, before we know it the holidays will be upon us. Although it is a time of beauty and a time of celebration, the reminders of looming to-do lists begin to hang over our heads. Harsh weather has taken its toll on many cities and states and we know the winter snowstorms are not too far away. There’s the election that too many feel is heavy and overwhelming. And then there’s the ache of life’s trials.
Loss of loved ones.
Financial burdens.
Chronic or unsolved illness.
Unemployment
Marital strife.
Yes, weary wants to settle within our spirits. It wants us to hold tight to our trials and to our to-do lists. It wants to steal our joy.
Friends, I can’t solve all the burdens piled high on your shoulders. I certainly wish I or somebody could. But I can point to the One who gives us hope. The One who is willing to take our burdens, give us strength and patience, and hold us up lest we fall.
Come to Me All You Who Are Weary
So, today, lift your hearts. Lift your eyes. And lift your voices to the One who calls you to Him and promises to give you rest.
Lift your hearts. Lift your eyes. And lift your voices to the One who calls you to Him and promises to give you rest. #prayer #hope #rest Share on XThen Jesus said, โCome to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.โ -Matthew 11:28-30

Great Encouragement for Hope
Gretchen Fleming:
“Sometimes it is easy to feel incapableโฆ.
Overwhelmedโฆ.
Inadequateโฆ.
Inside, I can feel so mundane when what life is requiring of me is spectacular.
But I have learned lessons from these feelings earlier in my life, so I know when they come what is most likely wrong. There are usually two truths being revealed.
- I have ceased to abide.
- I have become over-responsible.”
Can you relate? Along with the weary, you feel incapable, overwhelmed, and inadequate? Fellow blogger and new friend, Gretchen Fleming discovered two truths about her own actions and thought life. She struck conviction in my heart with these two truths. I think she just may with yours, as well. She has written a post, Leaving the Miracle to the Master, you can read what happens when she entrusted God with her ordinary self. The self that compared to a long list of to-dos is simply “not enough”.
As I close, I pray not only that your time here today has breathed new hope into your spirits, but that you walk away convicted to open your hands and surrender the burdens that have become way too heavy for the journey. I pray you surrender them to Jesus. The One who loves you and relentlessly pursues you.

All that Savior does overrule all the weariness, doesn’t it? Thanks so much for being her to share hope with me,my friend!
Such beautiful words- thank you!
Thank you, Keri! โฅ
Thank you for your words of encouragement as well as giving us this beautiful prayer to pray when we feel weary. I have to say that’s where I am right now, Lori. The bout of shingles I’m battling is still hanging on and making me emotionally weary. I had something of a meltdown yesterday and my sweet hubby didn’t know what to do with me! I’m so glad he simply sat with me and didn’t try to fix me or take my meltdown personally. Thanks also for the linkup, sweet friend.
Beth,
I just feel so awful for you. Shingles is horrible and this case of them is really hanging on for you! I am stopping to pray right now for healing. I am believing and claiming the touch of Jesus to heal your illness. “The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.” – Psalm 41:3. – Lord, with just one Word, one touch, one breath, You can heal Beth. I am boldly approaching You right now to sustain her on her sickbed and restore her from her bed of illness! I claim this in the Name of Jesus! Amen!
What a wonderful gift from your husband – to just sit with you. It’s what we need sometimes, isn’t it? Love you, girl! Keep me updated!
Hugs,
Lori

Alisa,

Lori, the prayer is so real, touching my heart … down to my toes! I smile for I know the One Who takes me into His hands and keeps me close. I will copy this prayer as it draws me in. Praising Him for you, sweet friend.
I am so thankful this prayer touched and encouraged your heart, Linda โฅ That God would so choose to give me words to encourage others humbles me to the core. I am in awe of Him and so thankful He has given me precious friends like you!
Oh those 2 truths – no longer abiding and bring over-responsible are exactly what happens when I am weary, worn out, and want to give up. Thanks so much for sharing Lori. This has helped me so much this week ๐
Oh, Samantha, I am so thankful this encouraged you this week! God is so good!
Thank you, Lori, for understanding how weary can settle in. Jesus is our only Hope! Your prayer touches my heart. How true also are Gretchen’s observations about ceasing to abide and becoming overly responsible. Blessings and hugs to you!
Oh, yes, Trudy! He is our only hope – the only hope that will last through every storm we face! Hugs!
A beautiful prayer and reminder that Jesus is our Hope. He gives strength when we are weary and upholds us as only He can.
Blessings to you, Lori!
Thank you, Gayl! Amen! He is our hope and our strength โฅ Thanks so much being joining me to share His hope with the world!
Thank you Lori… Abiding in my Savior and His Words is the most foundational thing that I often forget.
