God Has a Plan Even When Confusion Overwhelms You
Sometimes I think we have way too much in common with confused little ducks!
The streets gently curve around a little man-made lake. The lake and grassy green belts are on one side of the street while the housing developments and larger busier streets lie on the other side of the street. I drove that route every morning on the way to my boys’ school. It was a beautiful drive.
Several times a year, though, I had to sharply hit the brakes in order to save the life of a wandering and confused duck or two. The possibilities of what lay on the other side of the road lured them away from safety. Sadly, they encountered one of two things. A permanent end to their life journey right there in the middle of the road, or, if they managed to find their way unscathed across the road, they found themselves in a world of sidewalks, homes, and no water.
Not ideal for a duck. Especially in the Arizona desert.
If only they could see the big picture and the negative impact their choices would ultimately have on their lives. Over the years, I jumped out of my car a couple of times shooing them back toward the water. But, with determination, they plowed forward into their demise.
It reminded me of my own life choices. Just like them, I’ve been drawn by the lure of what looks better than my now.
How about you? Do you sometimes get lost in the lure of a something better?
Have you been drawn by the lure of what looks better than your now? A lure that had negative consequences? #livesurrendered #hope Share on XIf so, aren’t we, in a funny but real kind of way, just like those meandering, oblivious, and confused little ducks? Do we miss what we have in our very own homes? Do we lack the gratitude of the blessings we have? Are we so busy gazing at the horizon that we miss the here and now?
Just like I felt concern for those ducks, our Heavenly Father looks at us with concern, and even grief as He watches us. God has a plan for us and sees the big picture. I imagine He shakes His head and thinks something like, “Oh sweet child of Mine, you are only adding grey hairs to your head by going in that direction. Be still. Look up! Use what I’ve given you to discern My will. I will direct your path.”
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. –Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
God has a plan. A good plan.
Yet, we don’t pay attention.
Eyes down, we plow full steam ahead into unhealthy situations that leave us with regret.
The signs were probably there. God’s will was evident, but we missed it because … well, just maybe because we didn’t stop long enough to discern God’s direction. Maybe we didn’t filter our choices through God’s Word. Or, maybe we didn’t go before Him in prayer asking for His direction and revelation.
Friends. I’m not advocating life without dreaming. Pursuing our dreams is important! God has a plan for us and wants us to dream BIG so that we discover and walk fully in that plan.

A place of balance instead of extremes. And, honestly, balance is not easy. The world pushes us to extremes.
The enemy rejoices in our extremes because he knows it diminishes the power of our Kingdom dreams and goals.
“This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you.
I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’ –Jeremiah 33:3 MSG
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” –Matthew 7:7-8 ESV

Dream BIG!
Look Up!
See all that He has already given.
But most importantly, seek His Word and heart in the matter. Then cross that road. It may not have some bumps and hiccups along the way, but a road leading to God’s plan will never be met in demise. Following Him will bring clarity and leave you with peace.
Have You Read Our Story of Hope?
Our story was one holding lots of confusion. Amid the tears and frustration, I found the power of living surrendered. I discovered the peace of knowing I was walking in God’s will and could trust wherever He took me. Finding that doesn’t usually come along the golden paved roads. It comes along the broken ones.
