God Is With You When Others Are Not

I knew I shouldn’t let it get me down. But it did.

“Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.” -Ecclesiastes7:20 NIV

I know people are fallible. In fact, because I know it so well, it sometimes feels strangely brave to step out and trust. Sometimes going out of my way to be kind or encouraging downright scares me because I don’t want to leave my heart wide open for a wicked trampling. It’s the feeling that makes me want to hide – to stay behind the curtains rather than stepping out.

Do you ever feel that way? That trust is difficult? That disappointment and hurt at the hands of others puts you into a place of despair? Or at a minimum, stops you from trying to do the right thing?

God Is With You When Others Are Not

Is your heart weary of being let down and hurt by others over and over again? Don't lose heart, though. God is always with you and will never leave you. #godslove #hope #freedom #bibleverses #prayer #betrayal

Although hiding is an option, it’s not where God calls us, is it? And despair is never where God wants us to stay. As a matter of fact, His call is quite different. He calls us out from behind the curtains to shine His light. He creates us for purpose and He promises to walk with us through the despair. Then, He ushers us to a place of newfound joy – of love – of peace.

God knows others will hurt us. It was for our brokenness He sent His son to atone for our sins once and for all. We are a broken and battered people, and for that reason He gave us a Savior.

A savior not only for us when we are hurt, but a Savior for those who hurt us.

God gave us a Savior - a Savior not only for us when we are hurt, but a Savior for those who hurt us. #hope #godslove Share on X

You see, God is with us when others are not. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, people fall short. There is no perfection outside of Jesus. And things never last. They lose their shine and with it the value they once held.

If we look to people and things to fill the voids within our hearts, we are setting ourselves up to fail. We build unhealthy relationships and fail to set healthy boundaries. We waver in what we know to be right and find ourselves fading from our hope and our purpose.

Friends, there is only one way to fill the voids within us.

Jesus.

Jesus is the one and only perfect fit – the only way to fill the broken places in our hearts. The places that long for more than anything this world can give.

The voids residing deep within our hearts call out to Jesus. He is the only One who can fill them. #hope #godslove Share on X

So, today, if betrayal, rejection, or even careless words have broken your heart, please don’t lose hope. The actions of others are not about you. They are about that individual and whatever brokenness has affected their lives. Peel your eyes off the hurt and turn your eyes to Jesus. He is with you … always.

God is with you in every storm. His sees your pain and it breaks His heart. He even collects each of your tears carefully in a bottle and records them in His book.

“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” -Psalm 56:8 NLT

You matter to Him and no one can ever separate you from His love.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” -Romans 8:38-39 NLT

A Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, for never leaving me. You are with me when others are not. Your love never falls short nor does it fade. Father, I ask You to fill my place of hurt with Your holy presence. Shine Your light of truth on situations where I am allowing others to fill the voids within me. Turn my eyes to You and only You Lord, as the perfect fit for every need I have within me. Connect me deeper and deeper in relationship with You. Give me an insatiable thirst for Your Word and for time spent in conversation with You. Lord, thank You. In Your precious and holy name I pray. Amen.

  2. Beautiful. I so often have to remember that God created me as me with all my quirkiness for a reason, His reason. He has been on me about seeking rest in Him. Thank you for this reinforcement.

  3. That is the worst for people you care about to hurt you, maybe they don’t meant to and then there are the ones who do, but He is there for us, go to Him and rest.
