15 Inspirational Bible Verses About Trusting God

Trusting God often goes against everything our physical body and emotions feel. After all, to act out our trust is to let go, or to surrender. We trust in someone or something so that we can take a step back. It allows us room to breathe and relax. However, the more we love —the more we care about an outcome or a situation —the more we desire to control it rather than step back and surrender it.

These are 15 Inspirational Bible Verses About Trusting God I have often turned toward in my faith journey. And, as always included in this series, is a prayer incorporating the scriptures — A Prayer to Trust God. #bibleverses #scripture #prayingscripture #christianlivng #trustinggod #hope #faith #surrender #inspirationalbibleverses #bibleversesaboutrustinggod #printableprayers #prayers #trustgod

15 Inspirational Bible Verses About Trusting God

I’ve often written about our feelings leading us astray. The saying “follow your heart” is detrimental to walking out our lives in alignment with God’s will. Therefore, it is detrimental to walking out our lives in freedom and victory.

Our feelings lead us into murky situations. They tell us lies from within a painful situation because our emotions often serve as blinders to the truth.

But what do we do when life is complicated? How do we discern truth from lies? How do we separate ourselves from the impulsivity of our emotions in order to find truth? And ultimately, how do we learn to trust God when our physical and emotional selves seem to drown out all reason and vie for every ounce of our attention?

After years of trusting in the broken people and things of this world, I finally recognized Jesus as the only place my trust could be safe. Only He is perfect. We are imperfect people and even the most trustworthy of loved ones will fall short, and inevitably hurt us in some manner. Many of us live our lives looking for that peace — that worth — that wholeness in others. Yet, we bounce from disappointment to disappointment.

If today, you are disappointed and longing for wholeness, start with Jesus. The first step, of course, is to claim Him as the Lord and Savior of your life. It is to give your heart and life over to Him in an act of surrender and trust.

But there’s more. It takes some intentional day-after-day effort of getting to know your Savior as your friend, your Father, and the Trustworthy Holder of your heart.

That effort includes:

  1. Worship. Praise Him for who He is!
  2.  Gratitude. Notice the blessings, both big and small. (more about gratitude here)
  3.  Prayer. Pour out everything, both the good and the bad. How can we get to know someone we don’t talk to? More on prayer here.
  4. Dig into His Word. God left us His legacy, His story —a love letter to us, His children. First, begin digging through the words. Then, impress them upon your heart and keep them in your memory. They are the greatest tool for knowing God, His will, and His love for us.

For this week’s post, and as part of the Meaningful Bible Verses for Your Every Need series, I am including 15 Inspirational Bible Verses About Trusting God. Plus, I am including a Prayer to Trust God.

15 Inspirational Bible Verses About Trusting God

God Does Not Lie

“God is not like people. He tells no lies. He is not like humans. He doesn’t change his mind. When he says something, he does it. When he makes a promise, he keeps it.” -Numbers 23:19 GW

“God did this so that we would be encouraged. God cannot lie when he takes an oath or makes a promise. These two things can never be changed. Those of us who have taken refuge in him hold on to the confidence we have been given. -Hebrews 6:18 GW

God Is Always With Us

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9 NIV

“But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” -Mark 5:36 ESV

“I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?” -Psalm 56:4 NLT

Trusting God Leads to Victory

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” -Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” -Romans 15:13 NLT
“He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” -Revelation 21:5 NIV

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” -Psalm 28:7 ESV

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:28 ESV

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” -Isaiah 26:3 ESV

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7 ESV

A Prayer to Trust God

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for giving me a place to turn no matter where I am or what I face. Thank you for being trustworthy. Father, You cannot lie and that alone gives me an indescribable feeling of peace.

Within Your Word, You remind us again and again of Your love for us and Your power that works on our behalf. So today, I choose to cling to those truths. I choose to surrender my control and trust in You. I will keep my mind on You alone, therefore choosing to trade my anxiety for Your peace — the peace that surpasses all understanding and guards my heart.

Lord, You are my strength and my shield. You are my source of hope and with You, my hope and joy will overflow. I know that even in the darkest of situations, You make all things new. You will redeem and renew what is broken, therefore I know that where things appear hopeless, You will give new life. Thank You for going with me into every battle — for celebrating in my joy and comforting me in my distress. Jesus, I praise You, love You, and trust in You.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Sharing a message of hope through surrendering has been an honor. During our adoption journey, I only knew the next right step to take. And often, I didn’t even know that it was necessarily right — it was merely the only next step to take.

But now, I get to see how each step joined with the next to create an intricate map that branched out into a multitude of directions. A map where not only our daughter and our family have walked paths to redemption and renewal.

But a map that lead to the inspiration of thousands along this road.

Friends, God is reaching us all with His message of the power of living surrendered to Him. Together, we are discovering the peace that comes when we walk in God’s will and trust wherever He takes us.

I’d love nothing more than to look back in one, five, or ten years and feel those same emotions 10-fold. So, if you haven’t read the book yet, I’d love for you to do so … then pass it along. Also, if you would like me to share the message of Living Surrendered at your event, don’t hesitate to reach out!
